Graphic organizers can help you as begin the writing process. Check out these free, online graphic organizers:

  • Bubbl.us - Brain Storming and Organizing Tool good for visual thinkers/learners, EASY to use, very simple, customizable features, sharing capabilities

  • SpiderNet -Brainstorming/mind mapping tool. Can add documents, images, maps, share with other collaborators. Watch the twominute video tutorial here.

  • Text2MindMap- Create a simple idea web by simply typing the ideas into an outline, Easy to use

  • Webspiration- Graphic Organization good for visual thinker/learners, EASY to use, advanced feature, sharing capabilities, customizable, developed by creators of Inspiration/Kidspiration

  • Recall Plus - Students can organize their notes, create flashcards, make use of 3D tools and more in this great mind mapping tool. It is downloadable. The Lite version is free.

  • Exploratree- Create graphic organizers from scratch or with helpful templates

Do you know how to use the Synonym feature in Word?

Right click anywhere in the word > Synonyms and check the list to see if there is a better word choice.

  • Diigo - Annotate, Archive, Organize. Download and Install the **Diigo Toolbar**. Make sure to “Take the Tour” to understand how to use it. Highlight important points when you are researching material online. To extract the highlights to copy and paste them into a Word document, click the down arrow next to the Send button on the Diigo [[#|toolbar]] > Extract Annotations. [[#|A new window]] will open with your highlighted text in bulleted form. You can then copy the text to the clipboard and paste it into a Word document. Later, if you need to return to the site for additional information, just click on the link(s) and you will return to the sites(s) you highlighted.
